I have to agree with pretty much everything in this post. The title may be ironically click-baitey, but this article is spot on and references some pretty enlightening studies.

People loooove core training, and done properly it’s definitely an important concept. Now I’m all for simplicity and mastering the basics, but sometimes it’s nice to shake up the routine a little bit, provided you aren’t randomly throwing in exercises for the hell of it.
